Counselling Intern – School Setting (Postgraduate)

Duration: 3-6 months

Are you passionate about making a real impact in the lives of students, teachers, and staff? Do you want to gain invaluable hands-on experience in a vibrant and supportive environment? Greyspace Mental Health Services is looking for passionate and dedicated Intern Counsellors to join our team, providing exceptional counseling services at our partner International School in Mahkota Cheras.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Individual Therapy: Conduct 1-to-1 therapy sessions, offering personalized support and guidance to students, teachers and staff.
  2. Group Therapy: Lead group therapy sessions, fostering a collaborative environment for students to share and learn together.
  3. Psychoeducational Classes and Workshops: Design and conduct classes and workshops to educate students on psychological well-being and essential life skills.
  4. Student Support: Help students develop study skills, manage academic stress, regulate emotions, and improve interpersonal relationships.
  5. Teacher Assistance: Support teachers with classroom management and student disciplinary issues, enhancing the overall learning environment.
  6. Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with school management and teachers to ensure the welfare of students, keeping all relevant parties informed and involved.

Required Commitment:

  • Minimum commitment to this internship program 3-6 months.
  • The candidate should commit to a five-day work week. The weekly commitment includes fulfilling four days of work at the international school and one day of work at Greyspace Mental Health Services.

Criteria:

  • Candidates should be undergoing their internship module to fulfill academic requirements for a Master’s in Counseling approved by Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia.
  • ⁠Fluency in English and Mandarin is preferred.

Internship (Undergraduate)

Position Summary

This internship is a unique chance to gain invaluable hands-on experience in a professional mental health setting. As an intern, you’ll work closely with our team of mental health professionals, playing a vital role in various aspects of our mental health services. This is your opportunity to grow, learn, and contribute to the well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and facilitation of therapy sessions, including setting up materials and ensuring a comfortable environment for clients.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling appointments, client follow-ups, and managing client records.
  • Participate in case discussions and contribute to treatment planning with guidance from experienced practitioners.
  • Create social media posts to raise awareness of mental health and promote our services.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of mental health workshops and community outreach programs.
  • Perform literature reviews and research on relevant psychological topics.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all interactions.
  • Provide support to clients during sessions, such as helping with therapeutic activities and exercises.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Strong interest in mental health and counselling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps (Google Calendar, Google Meet, Google Sheets etc) .
  • Prior experience in a mental health setting is a plus, but not required.

Psychiatrist

Type: Associate / Part-Time

Position Summary:

Greyspace Mental Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and empathetic Licensed and Registered Psychiatrist to join our team. In this role, you will provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health disorders, and develop and implement treatment plans for a diverse clientele. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with a team of dedicated mental health professionals, contributing to the overall well-being of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Psychiatric Evaluations: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health conditions and determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Medication Management: Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitor their effectiveness, and adjust dosages as needed.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and client goals.
  • Crisis Management: Offer immediate support and intervention for clients experiencing acute psychiatric crises.
  • Collaboration: Able to recognize the roles of different mental health professionals and work closely with other mental health professionals, including psychotherapists, psychologists, counsellors and the operations team, to ensure integrated care.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialization in Psychiatry.
  • Valid medical licensure and registration to practice as a psychiatrist in Malaysia.
  • Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a psychiatric or clinical setting.

Administrative Coordinator & Case Manager

Type: Full-Time/Part-Time

Position Summary:

In this role, you will be the central point of contact between our mental health professionals and clients. You will perform a variety of administrative tasks, manage payments, liaise with clients, keep accurate records, and ensure smooth communication and operations within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Perform a range of administrative tasks, including managing office supplies and scheduling appointments.
  • Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of communication between clients and mental health professionals, addressing inquiries, scheduling sessions, and providing necessary information.
  • Payment Handling: Process payments, manage billing, and ensure accurate record-keeping of financial transactions related to client services.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date and confidential client records, including session notes, treatment plans, and payment histories.
  • Case Management: Oversee client cases from intake to discharge, ensuring continuity of care and coordinating between clients, mental health professionals, and external agencies as needed.
  • Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication between clients and mental health professionals, addressing any issues and updating all parties on appointments and treatment plans.
  • Client Support: Assist clients with the intake process, answer questions regarding services, and support them in navigating our mental health services.
  • Documentation: Prepare and manage documentation for client services, including consent forms, insurance information, and referral letters.
  • Office Operations: Ensure the smooth operation of the office environment, including handling correspondence, maintaining a clean workspace, and managing office equipment.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with external agencies and support services to ensure clients receive comprehensive care and support.
  • Follow-Up: Conduct follow-up with clients to monitor their progress and address any ongoing needs or concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Experience in administrative and case management roles, preferably in a healthcare or mental health setting will be a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
